Autograph collection chattanooga12/24/2023 ![]() ![]() That's what the OTHER front desk person told me (the not-so-nice one), in a "not my problem" kind of way, right after he told me "their system is unable to process a refund." It's a Marriott hotel (Marriotts can process refunds, as any Rewards member will tell you) and big thanks to the other, much kinder front desk person for stepping in to do so and to the Westin, for providing an excellent and quiet stay, as usual. Otherwise, the entire hotel can hear the construction no room is a quiet space. So, if you only plan to be at the hotel after 4:00 and leave the next day before 9:00, you should be good. " According to the staff, they stop work each day at 4:00. Would've been good to know in advance - like, before booking: "as a courtesy, we'd like to let potential guests know that there is a full-fledged construction site on top of your room. Turns out, the owner is building his personal condo on the top floor and while the hotel is finished, his residence is not. Oh wait, it WAS hammering & jackhammers right my head. the noise! It sounded like hammering & jackhammers right over my head. The room I walked into was bright, clean, a bit on the small side but it was all good until. The decor is unlike anything else in town & is fresh and fun. ![]() The valet staff were friendly, as was Amanda (I'm pretty sure that's right - I hope so) at the front desk. When the Edwin opened, however, I thought it'd be fun to try something new. And not more than 40 steps from the hotel entrance was a nice patch of grass which made it easy to take our dog out to do its business.I travel to Chattanooga 2-3 times per month and have 2 downtown hotels where I typically stay. They had little milk bones and a water dish at the lobby entrance. We ended up having to bring our dog along for the weekend. We ate at both Whitebird and Whiskey Thief and the food was great at both! We couldn’t believe how big the whiskey/bourbon selection was at Whiskey Thief and the rooftop view up there is a “can’t miss”! Last, but not least this is a very dog friendly hotel. Staff including the valets were all super friendly and helpful. Location is awesome - right on the river front with a pedestrian bridge right at your doorstep - great for a morning or evening walk. Loved that the rooms have hard woods/laminate flooring versus carpet. I rarely take time to review hotels but just had to comment on how phenomenal this place is! Hotel looks and feels brand new and is kept impeccably clean. And that was about a third of the cost of The Edwin. As in, flowers in your champagne bucket, a hand written note from the staff, drinks served on silver trays, and everyone just looks so dang happy. They go above and beyond to make your special stay feel magical. My recommendation is, if you are a local couple wanting a special stay for your wedding or anniversary or something, go to The Read House. Unless you absolutely must stay in the art district - find a different hotel. Unfortunately, I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. We spent nearly $800 between the room, parking, 2 bags of chips, 2 bottles of water, and 2 drinks at the whiskey thief for a 14 hour stay. No room service whatsoever due to Covid (we stayed post vaccines) but I ended up having to go down to the lobby to buy some bags of chips to have for dinner instead. We were greeted with a bottle of champagne, but not only was it a cheap bottle (ok it's free, but I'm talkin like gas station cheap) and it also looked like they just stuck it in there as an afterthought. We paid extra for an Art District view, but instead we faced inwards on city construction. The shower didn't have great water pressure, it was kind of lukewarm, and even then it ran out pretty quick. We aren't New York City, this is Chattanooga. They just didn't do enough to justify the price. Perhaps I should have done 2 stars, but the hotel didn't actually do anything wrong. And kind of wish we could get at least some of our money back. But I have to be honest, I left feeling a little underwhelmed. I'm not sorry that we went with The Edwin, because I know it was the only time we would ever feel ok with spending such a high price for a one night hotel room. I had heard such incredible things about the boutique hotel and it felt like the epitome of luxury. I really wanted to stay at The Edwin for our wedding celebration night. ![]()
